MODEL IDENTIFICATION

The Axle Gear Ratio can be located on the identification tag on the carrier assembly or on the axle tube.

 

Example: 23090S

First & Second Digits = GAWR x 1000 lbs.

Third, & Fourth Digits = Series.

Fifth Digit = Design Level

Sixth Digit = Gearing Type

Example: S135SN

First Digit S = Spicer Family

Second, Third, & Fourth Digits = Nominal Carrying Capacity: 135 x 100 lbs = 13,500 lb..

Fifth Digit S = Gearing Type Single Reduction

Fifth Digit T = Gearing Type Two Speed

Sixth Digit N = No Spin Differential

Sixth Digit L = Differential Lock

Sixth Digit B = Bus

 

Example: S21-170E

First Digit S = Spicer Family

Second and Third Digits = Nominal Carrying Capacity: 21 x 1000 lbs = 21,000 lb.

Fourth Digit = 1 - Standard Single Reduction, 2 - Double Reduction.

Fifth Digit = Head Assembly Series

Sixth Digit = Design Level

Sixth Digit = Options - D - Differential Lock, E - ?, H - Heavy Wall, I - Integral Brake, L - Limited Slip, R - Retarder / Parking Brake Ready, W - Wide Track.
